Steinbach’s first automobile dealership was established in 1914 with more dealers soon to follow. As car sales increased in the 1950′s, the Steinbach dealers began aggressively promoting themselves, and soon Steinbach became known as “The Automobile City”. By 1991, the Steinbach Auto Dealers, branding their new promotional slogan that “It’s Worth The Trip”, were drawing customers in from Manitoba, as well as neighbouring provinces.
Entering the City of Steinbach on Highway 12, you will quickly notice The Automobile City monument, a replica of a 1931 Rolls Royce Roadster. The current monument is about double the size of the original – 40 feet in length, 12 feet wide and 11.5 feet high and was made by John Henry Friesen of John Henry Signs, in association with John A. Fehr.
Steinbach, now the third largest community in Manitoba, is proud of its automobile heritage and continues to make your shopping trip a memorable one. The Steinbach Auto Dealers invite you to the “The Automobile City” to discover for yourself why it really is “Worth The Trip”.
